These alternatives are some of the best you’ll find in the Windows Store. Most, if not all, have been around before Microsoft went ahead and developed its own app.

Let’s get down to business, shall we?

The Weather Channel: Out of all the available weather apps back in the day, this was the one I used the most. It had everything I need and more, and while it was a resource hog and sometimes just didn’t work, it was reliable enough.

Fast forward into the future and The Weather Channel is much better than before and still rich in features, more so than Microsoft’s official app. Thing is, some of the features are not needed by most, and others are just useless to folks outside of the United States.

Not everyone wants to look at a map with weather conditions, nor to know about pollen alerts. Most folks just want to know if Thor is going to strike their location with thunderstorms or not. Overall though, solid app for everyone.

AccuWeather – Weather for Life: Another weather app that has been around ever since the early days of Windows Phone. It’s here on Windows 10 and still as solid as ever, and like The Weather Channel app, this bad boy is filled with similar features. Its most unique feature is something called MinuteCast, something that gives the user minute-by-minute precipitation forecast for the next 2-hours.

This is hyper-localized to the user’s exact street address via GPS.

WeatherBug: Everyone should know of WeatherBug by now because this app has been around for years, both on Windows Phone and other platforms. We’ve tested the version on Windows 10 and it is not bad, but we got a far better experience on Android.

WeatherBug doesn’t bring anything new to the table, but that shouldn’t matter because it does the most important thing right, and that is to show the weather.

MyRadar Weather Radar: This is another weather app that does much of the same when compared to other apps, however, it separates itself by being animated.

It has a 4.5-star rating as well, which is the highest of all the weather apps in the Windows Store, so that’s saying a lot about the quality of MyRadar Weather Radar; wow, that was a mouthful.
